Maps and Directions

When you are on the main road through Middleton, watch out for this sign:–

Directions from the North.

Directions from Skipton.

Directions from the South.

Please note:– Ullathorns shares a postcode with other neighbouring farms. This can confuse some mapping and sat–nav systems when you get within about half a mile. However, the map links on this website will take you right to our front door. Just like that.

When you get near to Ullathorns, Google Maps is gives precious little detail. Try Street Map for an OS-based map. Better still print the Street Map off before you leave home. The mobile signal round here is a bit iffy.

From the North on the M6 (Junction 37)

At Junction 37, take the A684 (East), signposted for the Western Dales and Sedbergh. Take it steady: this road still thinks it's the old droving way that it once was.

After a couple of miles you will come to a minor junction at the bottom of a long and steep hill. Here there is a house (once a pub) on the corner with a black horse painted on the stone above the door. Turn right here onto the B6255.

(If you miss the turning onto the B6255 and end up in Sedbergh, don't worry. Just follow the signs for Kirkby Lonsdale and go South on the A683).

After a mile, join the A683 (South) and carry on in the direction of Kirkby Lonsdale. You will then cross a narrow bridge (over the River Rawthy).

After about four miles you will pass the Swan Inn on your right. Thirty yards after the Swan your sat–nav may tell you to turn left. Ignore the voices.

After two hundred yards you will see a small church on the right. Take the next turning on the left, where there is a small signpost for Ullathorns Farm.

After a few hundred yards you will reach a cross–roads. Turn left.

After about half a mile you will see (signs to) Ullathorns Farm. Keep to the right as you enter the farm.

From Skipton and the South–east, on the A65

Just before Kirkby Lonsdale, do not follow signs into the town but turn right onto the A683, signposted for Sedbergh and Casterton.

After about three and a half miles you will see the sign for Middleton village.

After a further mile there is a turning to the right with a bus shelter on the corner and a small Ullathorns Farm sign at the junction. Take this right turn. (If you pass a small church on the left, you have gone a few yards too far).

After a few hundred yards you will reach a cross–roads. Turn left.

After about half a mile you will see (signs to) Ullathorns Farm. Keep to the right as you enter the farm.

From the South on the M6 (Junction 36)

At Junction 36, take the A65 (East), signposted for Kirkby Lonsdale and Skipton.

At Kirkby Lonsdale, do not follow signs into the town but stay on the A65. Just past the town, turn left onto the A683, signposted for Sedbergh and Casterton.
